N95 Respirator Fit Testing

Individual qualitative N95 respirator fit testing conducted in accordance with Washington State respiratory-protection requirements under WAC 296-842 and applicable OSHA standards. The appointment includes respirator selection and evaluation, user seal-check instruction, proper donning and removal, required fit-test exercises, and written documentation of the respirator manufacturer, model, style, size, testing method, result, and test date.

The participant must have medical clearance for respirator use before testing and must be clean-shaven anywhere the respirator seals against the face. Please bring the exact NIOSH-approved respirator model that will be used in the workplace. Avoid eating, drinking anything other than water, chewing gum, smoking, or vaping for at least 15 minutes before the appointment.

A successful fit test applies only to the specific respirator manufacturer, model, style, and size tested. Fit testing is required before workplace use, at least annually, whenever a different respirator is used, or when physical changes could affect the respirator’s fit. The Adult Family Home/employer remains responsible for maintaining its written respiratory-protection program, hazard assessment, medical evaluations, employee training, respirator selection, and required records.
